*Martin Gardner was possibly the most prolific contributor to making math popular. He wrote a column on recreational math in Scientific American for over 25 years, covering everything from puzzles to juggling to games to new discoveries in all fields of mathematics to annotations of Alice In Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass to fallacies in science and on and on.
Since Gardner’s death three years ago, parties celebrating his life and work have been going on around the world on his birthday (Oct 21). These celebrations are now taking place on all seven continents!
