When I was a senior at Springfield Central High school, I had a Botany teacher named Mrs. Volain. She was an outstanding teacher. She made sure to provide us with plenty of hands-on projects in the greenhouse, made PowerPoint slideshows to supplement our learning, and even wrote a grant so that we could participate in a botanical sculpture project. She went out of her way to provide us with experiences we never may have had otherwise outside of the classroom. She showed she actually had an interest in our academic success, which encouraged us to be better students. I learned so much about botany that semester because I was engaged in learning.
